Bina Semula Reka Bentuk dan Teknologi (RBT) is an Educational and Humanitarian initiative by IEEE Malaysia Section, Ministry of Education Malaysia, IET Malaysia Network, Tech Dome Penang, JCI Penang and Cytron Technologies.
A tropical depression made landfall on the eastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia on 16 December 2021, bringing torrential downpours throughout the peninsula for three days. The resulting floods affected eight states across the peninsula, and left at least 54 dead and 2 missing. During its furthest extent, it caused the concurrent displacement of more than 71,000 residents and have affected over 125,000 people on the overall. The five most impacted schools are Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sri Muda, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seksyen 19, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pulau Carey, Kuala Langat and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tengku Ampuan Rahimah.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Education Malaysia, IEEE Malaysia Section, IET Malaysia Network, Tech Dome Penang, JCI Penang and Cytron Technologies will be contributing to rebuilding the laboratories, provide kits and modules as well as training for teachers and students of these impacted schools as part of the Post - Flood Relief Program.
Reka Bentuk dan Teknologi or Design and Technology (RBT) are the new courses introduced by the Ministry of Education Malaysia for Upper Primary Schools (10 - 12 Years Old) and Lower Secondary Schools (13 - 15 Years Old) in the new Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Menengah or Secondary School Standard Kurikulum (KSSM). For this first phase of the program, IEEE Malaysia Section has contributed Maker Uno Educational Kits for Form Two RBT Students age 14 years old and Educators teaching age 14 years old. The second phase of the program will be continued with the Teachers Workshop and Students Workshop.
