The Benefits of Polymeric Armored Cables vs. MC-HL
Speaker: N. Chris Averill is currently the Director of O&G with Prysmian Group, where he has worked for the last 17 years. He has over 40 years of experience working in the wire and cable industry. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Haven as well as a Master of Engineering Sciences from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Topic: This presentation will focus on the benefits of polymeric armored cables, and their applications. Medium and high voltage polymeric armored cables are much different than low voltage polymeric armored cables. Therefore, the presentation is split into two parts to go over each type individually. The key benefits of medium and high voltage polymeric armored cables are strength, crush resistance, chemical resistance and long length tolerance. The key benefits of low voltage polymeric armored cables are flexibility, ease of stripping and reduced gland costs. Low voltage ploymeric armored cables also compare equitably to similar MC-HL cable with regards to overall strength and chemical resistance. The presentation addresses each benefit as well as applications that leverage these strengths.
