In this talk, an overview of MEMS will be covered, and also its applications in automobile, biomedical and other related sectors will be presented. The start would be by specifying the basics of MEMS, on continue exploring the applications which are currently at their peak. Few topics relevant to its manufacturing and packaging techniques will be introduced. Explaining why presently silicon is used as substrate and its important factors uplifting the characteristics of silicon. Finally, the presenter will share certain outstanding ongoing research.

Biography:

Dr. Vimala Juliet is a full-time professor in the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, in India. since 1995. Earlier she worked for Fluid Control Research Institute. She has supervised 18 Ph.D. scholars and has 150  publications to her credit in reputed journals. She has organized various courses on fundamentals of mems, control systems, industrial automation, neural networks & fuzzy logic systems, advanced process control, and transducers engineering. Her scientific research activity includes sensors and transducer topics in the concerned field of respective applications. She has one book and two patents to her credit. Additionally,  Dr Juliet's collaborative research was funded by local industries and institutions

Dr Juliet's current research is focused on the development of biosensors and Gas sensors using MEMS. She is recognized as an expert reviewer of ISA Transactions, WSEAS and Journal of Engineering Science and Technology. She is an active Executive member and Publication Chair in ISA South India Section and faculty advisor of SRM ISA Student Section. She is an expert member in Board of Studies (BoS) in other autonomous institution & colleges and also as selection committee member under Career Advancement Selection by Agra University, India. Dr Juliet is a member of International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO), Technical Committee on Robotics Measurement (TC-17)
