Biography:

Toby Nixon is Senior Program Manager responsible for standards engagements in the Silicon, Graphics, and Media team in the Azure Edge+Platform Group at Microsoft. He’s been with Microsoft since 1993 and involved in technical standards development since 1985, in numerous standards development organizations including Bluetooth SIG (currently serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors), USB Implementers Forum (board member), Allseen Alliance (board member), Unified Extensible Firmware Interface Forum (board member), UPnP Forum (former chair of the board), OASIS Web Services Devices technical committee (chair), International Multimedia Teleconferencing Consortium (former board member), Telecommunications Industry Association (subcommittee chair), International Telecommunications Union (rapporteur), and ISO/IEC. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, and holds several patents in the field of networking and communications. He serves as an officer and board member of several other non-profit organizations in the fields of government transparency, human services, and environmental protection. He served three terms as a member of the Washington State House of Representatives and as an elected fire district commissioner, and currently serves as a member of the city council of Kirkland, Washington.
