Managing Data and Security - Cybersecurity and Blockchain Seminar


Introduction to Cybersecurity was designed to help learners develop a deeper understanding of modern information and system protection technology and methods.

A deeper understanding of the capabilities and limitations of blockchain technology, enabling you to assess which business problems it can solve.

A framework for blockchain-based strategy that addresses a challenge within your own business context.

This is a 24h (synchronous and assynchronous) online seminar, which will be held in Portuguese with a duration of 8 days from September 6 to 15*. Synchronous sessions with occur everyday from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. 

A minimum of 80% attendance on synchronous sessions is required to be issued an attendance certificate. Upon sucessfull conclusion, an IEEE diploma is issued.

João C. Ferreira is a Professor at ISCTE-IUL with aggregation. He graduated in Physics from the Technical University of Lisbon (UTL / IST), Portugal, received an MSc in Telecommunications and a PhD in Computer Engineering from UTL / IST and a second PhD in Industrial Engineering at the University of Minho. 

His research interests are in: data science, Text Mining, IoT, AI, IoT and AI applications to health, energy, transportation, security networks, Blockchain, Electric Vehicle, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and sustainable mobility systems. He has authored more than 250 papers in computer science. 

He has executed more than 30 projects (6 as PI), more than 180 scientific paper reviews and more than 25 scientific project evaluation. IEEE CIS Chair 2016-2018 and main organizer of international conferences such as: OAIR 2013, INTSYS 2018, INTSYS 2019 and INTSYS2020. IEEE senior member since 2015. 

Guest Editor and topic editor of MDPI in the topics of energies, electronics and Sensors. President of the IEEE CIS in PT (2017-2018). 

Author of a patent in the area of Edge Computer in a monitoring system for fishing vessels. Coordinator of the Master of Decision Support Systems and of the summer schools (smart cities) and winter schools (IoT and blockchain systems) 2019 and 2020.

He is participating in the following projects - H2020 Infrastress, Sparta, ENSURECEC and MARISA, ANDANTE, Interreg Block4Coop, BALCAT, FCT AIM Health, PT2020 Monitoring persistent track and Multicam and the Digital Demo.

 

Bruno Almeida (IntellectEU)

Bruno holds a B.Sc (2009) and M.Sc (2011) in Informatics Engineering from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. 

Bruno worked for an R&D institution (IPN) that has a straight collaboration with research groups from the University of Coimbra. He helped to grow a team from 3 members to 30+ collaborators. He led complex R&D projects in multiple sectors and participants. He was responsible for technical leadership and coordination of national-wide projects (+30 participants and €10 million budget) and at the European level (+5 participants and €1 million budget). 
 
Bruno Almeida is Head of Delivery at IntellectEU. Within IntellectEU, Bruno participated once again in the growth of the Blockchain R&D unit from 5 collaborators to nearly 80 Engineers, consultants, and business experts. Bruno was responsible for improving internal processes, management and planning of several DLT projects on the Financial sector for organizations worldwide.
 
Bruno has been invited to lecture about DLT in a well known University in Lisbon, Portugal - ISCTE (Lisbon University Institute) as Visitor Professor.

Carlos Serrão (ISCTE-IUL)

Carlos Serrão is an Associate Professor at ISCTE-IUL. Graduated in Computer Science and Management, ISCTE-IUL, 1997. Master in Information Systems Management, ISCTE-IUL, specialisation in the information security area, 2004. 

PhD in Computer Architecture and Distributed Systems, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain), 2008.. Integrates the the Information Sciences and Technologies Department, where it teaches different curricular units related with Information Security, Web and Mobile-based Information Systems Development and Management, Project Management and Entrepreneurship. 

Previously a researcher at ADETTI-IUL with interest in the research areas of “Distributed Applications and Systems”, “Information Security”, “Mobile and Web Information Security” integrated into the NUIGRAM (Natural User Interaction Graphics and Mobility) research group. 

Since January 2015 integrates SSE (Software Systems Engineering) research group of ISTAR-IUL, working in the same research areas. Associated Researcher of the Distributed Multimedia Applications Group - DMAG (UPC, Spain). Since 1996 has participated in multiple national and international projects, financed by entities such as the National Science Foundation, the European Union, European Space Agency and others. 

Author and co-author of multiple research articles and communications in international conferences, journals and magazines, and also multiple project reports and deliverables. Also author of several PHP development books. 

OWASP (Open Web Applications Security Project) member and leader of the Portuguese chapter (between 2007-2018), cooperating in event organisation, information dissemination and other projects. Founding member of the AP2SI (Associação Portuguesa para a Promoção da Segurança de Informação). Member of MPAI and ACM. Entrepreneur in some IT-based startups.

 

Luís Marado (IntellectEU)

Luís Marado is currently a "Digital Asset Area Lead" at IntellectEU, being responsible for a team of around 40 people. 

This team is responsible for several consulting and development activities in several international projects with Blockchain technology. 

In the recent past, in addition to being Head of DLT & Blockchain at genesis.studio, the roles of technical sales leader together with technical leadership responsibilities, he specialized in the various solutions developed by Digital Asset, where the smart language fits contract Daml. 

Even earlier, he developed his professional career as an Integration Consultant/Architect with experience in ETL processes and Oracle Fusion Middleware solutions."
