Abstract:
The value (market capitalization) of Cryptocurrencies has surpassed one trillion dollars while Christine Lagarde, the head of European Central Bank (ECB), has stated that Bitcoin is not a currency and China has made transactions in Bitcoin illegal. Warren Buffett claims that Cryptos are one of the biggest financial scams and will end in tears with investors losing millions of dollars.
"Cryptocurrencies basically have no value and they don't produce anything. They don't reproduce, they can't mail you a check, they can't do anything, and what you hope is that somebody else comes along and pays you more money for them later on, but then that person's got the problem. In terms of value: zero." — CNBC, February 2020

On the other hand proponent of Bitcoin call these critiques Luddites who do not understand technology and internet and how information technology is transforming many aspects of our lives including financial transactions, investments and savings.
