Tour of Xcel Energy Downtown Power Network
Please join the Denver PES/IAS chapter leadership in a tour of Xcel Energy’s downtown Denver Distribution Network system. The tour will take place at Xcel Energy’s Colorado headquarters building in downtown Denver, and will involve viewing of the unique design of the Denver Distribution Network, a discussion with the operating technicians on operation and maintenance of the system, and a comparison of the system to traditional radial Distribution designs. The vault includes 3 underground feeders from Xcel Energy’s Lacombe substation in the Ballpark neighborhood, connected to 6 Distribution Network transformers that are interconnected on their secondary side prior to serving the building electrical loads.
The group will meet at the building downtown and the tour is expected to take approximately 90 minutes.
