On the 1st-2nd October this year, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) South Australia Section will be running the Australian and New Zealand Student and Young Professional Conference (ANZSCON) at the University of Adelaide, Australia. This unique event brings together the leadership from two Regional Councils and 10 IEEE sections across Australia and New Zealand.

ANZSCON is an event where engineering students and young professionals can meet and network with local industry and academic leaders. The event runs for two days over a weekend and covers a wide range of activities from technical talks, workshops and networking opportunities. Delegates will explore trends in science and technology, discuss present and future engineering challenges, develop new skills and share technical, social and professional experiences.  There will be both in-person and virtual attendance possible.

The ANZSCON program includes several key components:
• An IEEE overview – R10 President, R10 President Elect and other key Australian members will discuss the benefits of IEEE and chapter membership.
• Technical talks that focus on areas within electronics and computer engineering, cutting-edge innovations and developments in the fields such as Artificial Intelligence, sustainable energy, computer architecture and space.
• A special Women in Engineering (WIE) session looking at challenges faced by women in the engineering world.
• Presentations from well-established engineers sharing their career experiences to help guide the younger generations to develop their own career.
• Workshops covering areas such as python programming, AI/machine learning, leadership, robotics and other topics of interest.
• A networking dinner on the first night.

Confirmed speakers include:
•    Deepak Mathur, R10 Director
•    Lance Feng, R10 Director-Elect
•    Professor Nelson Tansu, Fellow of IEEE and the Head of School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Adelaide.
•    Professor Sharath Sriram from RMIT University, who jointly leads a team in 'Functional Materials and Microsystems' that translates discoveries at extremely small size scales into technology for electronics, communication, and biomedicine.
•    Dr Dale Lambert from the Defence Science and Technology Group who is the Chief of the Information Sciences Division.
