FOURTH ROMANIAN SUMMER SCHOOL OF ANTENNAS, PROPAGATION, AND RFID APPLICATIONS
The 4th Summer School of Antennas, Propagation, and RFID Applications was organized by the Romanian IEEE AP-S/RFID Jt Chapter.

Welcome messages were given by Prof. Daniela TARNICERIU, Dean of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications, and Information Technology – Iasi; Assoc. prof. Grigore STAMATESCU, Secretary of the IEEE Romania Section; and Prof. Tudor PALADE, Chair of the IEEE Romania Section - Antennas and Propagation Society / CRFID Joint Chapter.
The topics of the first and second days included:
- Artificial intelligence trends
- Distance averaging method - used to reduce the effect of the common mode currents
- Propagation effects and their impact on satellite-Earth links
- Radio planning
- Radio wave propagation
- Autonomous buoy for monitoring the underwater noise using compact antennas
- Practical aspects regarding setting and maintenance of mobile cellular networks
- Private and virtualized 5G networks
- Innovation management methods
The first and second days also included some visits:
- At the Continental Automotive Iasi
- At the Romanian National Radio Communications Society / RADIOCOM – Pietrarie (Iasi) and Uricani (Iasi)
- At one of the telecommunication sites of the Orange Company
- At one of the radio transmission towers of the Orange Company – Paun (Iasi)
The third day of the event included a visit to Piatra-Neamt TV Tower; networking activities; and the closing ceremony.
Twenty-one students (undergraduate and postgraduate) from the main technical universities in Romania attended the Summer School, as well as three engineers from different companies.
The event was sponsored by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society and by the Municipality of Iasi, respectively. It was technically supported by the Technical University "Gheorghe Asachi" of Iasi – Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications, and Information Technologies, and by the IEEE Romania Section – APS/CRFID Joint Chapter.
