Brief Description:
On 18th August 2022, Department of Computer Science and Engineering and IEEE Information Theory Society (ITS) SEC Student Branch Chapter, Sri Sairam Engineering College conducted Paper-Con, an event aiming to shed light on the process of writing research papers. Dr. B Latha, Dean- Skill Development & Head of Department, Computer Science and Engineering, had presided over the event which was organised by Mrs. D Kavitha, Chapter Advisor-IEEE-ITS. The event had four student speakers, Mr. Avinash M (Chairman of ITS), Ms. Swetha Lakshme S (Vice-Secretary of ITS), Mr. Nithish Raja K L (Vice Chairman of ITS), and Mr. Siddarth V S, (Final year, Department of CSE). It was attended by 3rd year and 4th year students of the CSE department.
The event commenced with Dr B Latha, Head of Department, Computer Science and Engineering, giving the welcome address. Mr. Avinash M gave a short introduction about research papers and detailed their significance. Ms. Swetha Lakshme S gave insight into choosing a topic for writing a paper and shared a few pointers regarding the same. Mr. Nithish Raja K L explained the structure and format of writing a paper and also presented a few sample research papers to the audience. Mr. Siddarth V S discussed his own experience attending conferences and gave important points to keep in mind while preparing a presentation.
Throughout the session, members of the audience who had published research papers of their own/attended conferences in the past had shared their own thoughts on the same. The session concluded with the audience providing feedback about Paper-Con.
