The Citadel's student branch counselor is planning a local Hackathon and workshop, potentially in concert with Senior Design.  It involves faculty from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of Cyber and Computer Sciences at The CItadel, along with potential participation from the College of Charleston. In preparation, we are reaching out across the SouthEast Region asking for support.

We are looking for feedback on our Hackathon idea and for members in industry to act as Virtual Technical Mentors to provide short 20-30 minute demonstrations and working examples for senior design / capstone students and hackathon participants. Areas of technical expertise include:

  • Linux /scripting
  • Python
  • c/c++
  • Image processing with opencv (Posenet, detectnet, darknet_ROS)
  • Image processing for stereo imagers such as ZED 2 and Intel realsense D435 (using NVIDIA Xeviar NX, TX2)
  • Image processing on raspberry pi imager 2.0 with openCV on raspberry pi 4
  • Point to point wireless network for raspberry pi 3B+/4
  • ad-hoc wireless mesh networks (batman-adv, cjdns), raspberry pi 3B+/4
  • Mesh networks using Zigbee and Raspberry pi 3B+/4
  • GPS integration into raspberry pi 3B+/4 applicatioons
  • IMU integration for raspberry pi 3B+/4 applications
  • LiDAR integration with raspberry pi / linux based PC
  • Sonic ranging sensor integrated with raspberry pi 3B+/4
  • Micophone (MEM based) integration with a raspberry pi 3B+/4
  • Robot Operating Systems(ROS) (melodic, ROS2)
  • motor control with raspberry pi 3B+/4
  • motor control with raspberry and arduino uno/arduino mega
  • Data analysis (python, MATLAB)
  • AI/ML with development environment (tensorflow, pytorch)
  • Grahical user interfaces operated by a raspberry pi 3B+/4
  • Android app development
  • (more to come)

If you are just interested in supporting a student branch or have experience in any of the technical expertise areas and are willing to share that in a short form session with undergraduates, we welcome to join the session or reach out in separate correspondence.
