Dear IEEE SA Section

You are invited to the 2022 AGM and dinner which will be held at the Adelaide Pavillion on Friday the 18 November. 

The AGM will run from 5:30-6:45 and the dinner from 6:45 - 10pm. 

This event is designed for partners and will have a guest speaker and short awards ceremony. The 3 course meal includes drinks and is subsidised for IEEE members and their partners.

The cost is $40 - please buy your tickets by the 11th November so we can confirm numbers.

Richard Richard

This year is the Sesquicentenary or 150th Anniversary of the Overland Telegraph Line.

Tonight, Richard will describe some of the events which led up to and resulted – finally – in the completion of this communication revolution which connected Australia to the world.

Biography:

Richard Venus is a retired electrical engineer with an interest in engineering heritage. He has served as chairman of Engineering Heritage SA; deputy chair of the national body Engineering Heritage Australia; and Vice President of the History Council of SA. He has been instrumental in awarding national heritage recognition plaques for the Overland Telegraph Line, the Joining Point at Frew Ponds, and the East-West Telegraph.
