Perks of IEEE in Academics for Undergraduate/Graduates students


Women in Engineering (WIE) London Canada would like to invite you to "IEEE Scholarships" session. This event is held in hybrid mode in-person and virtual. IEEE is the professional home for engineers where they have a chance to learn from technical and non-technical activities. Being a problem solver, you can solve technical world problems and present solutions. IEEE has a lot of learning opportunities and potential scholarship programs which facilitate undergraduate/ graduate students. During this presentation, we shall share the opportunities/ scholarships. Also, will share How to apply and share the keynote experiences on it.

Biography:

Mr. Usman Munawar is a recent MA.SC Electronic Systems Engineering graduate from University of Regina, Canada and working as Design and Development Engineer at Greenwave Innovations Inc., Canada. He served as sessional Lab Instructor, machine learning at software engineering department, University of Regina in 2020. He also served as Senior Research Officer/Adjunct Lecturer in University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, Pakistan for 5 years.

He is currently Chair of IEEE IAS CMD Humanitarian contest and Program sub-committee 2021, USA. In addition, he is working as vice chair CONAC Committee and Openwater developer/Administrator at IEEE R7, Canada. He facilitated and advised the scholarship system at IEEE Canada foundation. He is also founder and serving chair of IEEE PES/IAS Joint Chapter South Saskatchewan Section. He served on various positions which include branch, section, region and HQ committees as branch secretary, branch advisor, SAC chair, YP secretary, section secretary and treasurer, Chapter chair, YP Region Committees, YP Global Committees, Communication chair, Smart Grid committee, Smart Village committee, Region Oversight committee, Region Educational committee, MCE, HQ committees and etc. He took various initiatives nationally & internationally and supported a great number of activities such as Technical Forum for Industry and Academia Partnership (Tunisia and Peru), humanitarian workshops (organized in 40 countries), ICOSST, ICECE, etc.

He was one of the recipients of the Dean Honor list Award 2021 (by University of Regina) and IEEE PES Scholarship 2020 (by IEEE PES & IEEE Foundation). He and his team won various prestigious awards such IEEE Hall of Fame award, IEEE Lahore Section (Twice), IEEE Hall of Fame award, IEEE PES YP committee, Outstanding Young Engineer award, IEEE PES (by IEEE PES President), Outstanding Young professionals volunteer award (Section), Outstanding volunteer award, IEEE IAS USA, IEEE IAS CMD Humanitarian Award (3 Times), IEEE IAS CMD Robotics Award, IEEE MDI (APPES) and etc.
