Economics Overview – 8:45 am

Independent financial planner, Scott R. Dickerson, started delivering financial services to businesses, individuals, business owners, and key executives while he was with Morgan Stanley in 1997.  Currently, and as an independent Representative of Navigation Financial Group, Scott combines his experience, integrity and objectivity to help find sound solutions to his client’s financial needs and desires. Scott’s main areas of practice are in personal financial planning, investments and Group Retirement Plans.  He began his career in Financial Services and Insurance in 1997 after receiving a BBA in Marketing from Texas Tech University.  His specialties include retirement plans, personal financial planning and retirement income distribution.

 

Scott balances work and time with his family. He is married to Cindy and has two boys Payton and Will.  He is an active member of Hillside Christian Church.

 

Jessica Hooyenga is a Regional Vice President at Capital Group, home of American Funds, covering west and central parts of Texas. She has 16 years of investment industry experience, all with Capital Group. She holds an MBA in business management from Indiana Wesleyan University and a bachelor’s degree in financial management from Indiana University. She also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® and Certified Investment Management Analyst® designations. Jessica is based in Lubbock, Texas with her 4 year old son Harrison.

 

Ethics – 10:00am

Dr. Lance Kinney, P.E. is a licensed professional engineer and has been recently appointed executive director of the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. Kinney has served the board in a number of positions for more than seven years, providing guidance to agency programs and activities, including legislative, rule and policy issues.

Before joining the Board of Professional Engineers, Kinney worked nearly a dozen years in the semiconductor industry. He holds a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin, a master's from Texas State University and is currently a doctoral student at The University of Texas. He has lectured as an adjunct professor in the Engineering and Technology Department at Texas State and the Electronics and Advanced Technologies Department at Austin Community College.

Mark Gross is the Regional Business Manager for the Vaisala Power Solutions group has 25+ years of experience working in the Power Generation, Renewable Energy and Green/Hi Tech industries. From General and Operational Management to Business Development positions, he has held key roles in various companies in the alternative energy and sustainable fuels segments in both the US and Latin America.  He has also worked extensively with new markets and product development, looking at new technologies and applications in the Green technology and Energy/Power sectors. 

Mark holds a Bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College and an MBA from the Olin Graduate School of Business. He is tri-lingual in Spanish, Portuguese and English.

 

 

 

 

Resilient Electric Grid – 2:15 pm

Dr. Anitha Subburaj received her M.E. in Applied Electronics from the Anna University in 2007, India and her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the Texas Tech University in 2014. She was a post-doctoral research associate at Texas Tech University before coming to WTAMU. Dr. Subburaj teaches electrical circuits and programming fundamentals. Dr. Subburaj has several publications in Renewable & Sustainable Energy Review Journal, IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications and International Journal of Renewable Energy Research. Dr. Subburaj is a Senior Member of the IEEE society. Dr. Subburaj’s research interests include renewable energy, control systems, battery energy storage system, and battery connected to grid applications.

We will welcome back Mr. Eric Spellmann to enlighten us on what is new and best in the world of Technology. Eric Spellmann is the President of Spellmann & Associates. Eric has established himself as a leader in helping customers meet their online goals through practical, hands-on-application. In addition, he is a featured speaker at a number of national technology conferences. His unique style appeals to all levels of audiences. He is often hired to convey technically challenging topics to non-technical people. He is often labeled a “Technology Evangelist.”.
