Tour of Nebraska Public Power District York Operations Center's new Training Facility
This meeting is a tour of Nebraska Public Power District York Operations Center's new Training Facility.
This new Training Facility includes an outdoor 115/69kV substation; and indoor 115kV control room, classroom, 34.5/12.5kV substation, 12.5kV wooden pole line section, and 115kV wooden pole section; which will supplement existing outdoor distribution training facilities at this site.
With this new facility, the workforce can be trained in the areas of construction, operations, & maintenance, resulting in overall safety margin increases. Classroom training will now be able to be conducted in combination (i.e. at the same location) with simulated in field training. The inside training facility will provide NPPD the ability to perform training in a controlled environment.
Prior to the actual tour, NPPD's Dale Schoening - District Substation Manager and Trevor Roth - Operations Program Manager will describe the benefit of the facility and how it is being/will be used.
This is a secure facility, so please register for the tour so that the list of attendees can be submitted to security in time for the tour.
Due to limited seating in the classroom, the number of attendees is limited to 30, so please register early.
At the York Operations Center, park in the east or west parking lots, and meet at the north main entrance. At the main entrance, buzz in on the intercom and announce your presence to security. Security will then unlock the door, where someone will be waiting to guide you to the training facility classroom.
Following the tour, attendees are invited to an optional two meat buffet dinner in the Shir-Ra Room at Chances "R" Restaurant in York (124 W 5th St). Cost of the buffet is $17.70 plus tax plus tip that will be the attendees responsibilty to pay.
