These workshops are supported by the IEEE STEM Ambassador Program. A small snack will be provided to registered participants.

"How computers work" workshops will introduce students aged 14-18 to the computer and software engineering profession.  This event aims to expand and become a program which will attract student to learn coding and join computing related university programs, such as computer science, information technology, computer engineering and software engineering.

The workshops will use Arduino and Arduino-compatible kits and lessons such as the Arduino Blink Challenge from IEEE Try Engineering website appropriate for students aged 14-18. The intention is to also develop new lessons for senior students (aged 16-18) that will demonstrate Machine Learning algorithms. This hopefully will attract youngsters to enroll and study in university programs related to computing.

Concordia University of Edmonton students and IEEE Northern Canada Section section volunteers who are passionate about the related professions will be involved to assist with the workshops and mentor school students.

Please register if: 1. You have children aged 14-18 interested in technology; 2. You are willing and able to assist with the workshops.

We would appreciate it if you send the information for the workshops to teachers and parents of students in the City of Edmonton area.
