For the first part of this workshop series, we will cover these Java and Swing concepts:

  • Layout Managers
  • Action Listeners
  • Timers
  • Event Listeners
  • Resource access within a JAR
  • Swing Components (JLabel, JButton, JTextField, JTextArea, JList, JSplitPane + many more)
  • JOptionPane

Java Swing is a powerful tool for creating platform-independent graphical user interfaces. With a strong set of components available right out of the box and the ease of writing one's own custom components, Swing is a powerful tool for anyone to have in their arsenal. Write real software to solve real problems in minimal time!

In this two-part workshop series, we will demonstrate the development of numerous Java Swing applications from scratch. Attendees will be able to follow along and also incorporate their own artistic flair into whatever it is we're programming at the workshop.
