A Half-Century's Evolution in Immersive Learning
The first full week of December is ACM’s CSEdWeek (https://www.csedweek.org), and our chapter always has a special education-related program to celebrate.
Research on immersive media for learning now spans five decades and many types of interfaces. This big-picture talk looks at lessons learned over this time period, including more than three decades of designing and studying various forms of XR [Extended Reality]. All of us now stand at the threshold of a golden-age of powerful, affordable experience-on-demand. The next five years offer many opportunities for advances that deepen learning and enhance assessment.
