IEEE Black Hills Subsection: Electrical Engineer Role in Electric Utility Asset Management
Our smart phones are expected to last 2-3 years. Modern cars may be in service for twelve years. How long should the electrical grid last before it needs to be replaced or rebuilt? Come hear Bob Case, Asset Programs Manager for Black Hills Energy (BHE) describe his department’s role in helping to keep the BHE electric transmission and distribution system reliable and cost-effective for its customers. In this brief presentation followed by ample time for Q&A, Bob will give an overview of line patrol, pole inspection and vegetation management for thousands of circuit miles and hundreds of thousands of circuit poles, as well as other challenges to keeping the electric system in the Black Hills, Colorado and Wyoming reliable.
