IEEE Tech Talk Space Commercialization and National Security
Space Commericalization - How are we protecting the Space Cargo?
The era of space commercialization is well underway. At the same time, the space domain is militarily contested and increasingly critical to national security. U.S. private-sector space companies are getting directly involved in military conflicts for the first time. Meanwhile, U.S. military organizations like the Space Force and the National Reconnaissance Office are engaging the private sector in new ways with the goal of trying to retain a U.S. space advantage in the face of growing threats. The convergence between space commercialization and national security space is sure to have a profound impact on both sectors going forward, and it’s more important to our daily lives than most people realize.
