IEEE JUIT SB and Technology Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (TIEDC) conducted a workshop, The Bridge: Tech to Innovation, Industry-Academia Collaboration with a focus on Research & Innovation in collaboration with IEEE R10 region, India Council, Industry Relation & Education Activities of IEEE Calcutta, & IEEE Delhi Section.

It was a one-day workshop which was organized at Jaypee University of Information Technology ( JUIT ), Solan, Himachal Pradesh on Friday,  November 11, 2022. The students from first year to fourth year pursuing their graduation in BTech from JUIT participated in the workshop. Even professors and faculty members became a part of this Industry Academia Workshop along with some industry experts.

Hearing the perspectives and views of the Academia and Industry Leaders on current state, issues and challenges, looking at the success stories and collaboration on Research and Innovation and learning that collaboration is the key to replicating success were the key objectives of this workshop.

It started with the inauguration ceremony at 9:00 AM with lamp lighting where the Chief Guest Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Prof & Director IIT Ropar, the Guest of Honour Prof. Kailash Srivastava, Senior Engineer RnD and Adjunct Prof IIT Mandi, the Guest of Eminence Padma Shri Dr. Satish Kumar, Ex- Director, NIT Kurukshetra and several other eminent personalities in the industry were welcomed which was followed by the Felicitation Ceremony.




With that done, the honorable Vice Chancellor Of JUIT delivered a welcome note to declare the start of this treasured event. Further, the personalities with minds of distinct vision and experiences, Prof Rajeev Ahuja sir, Director at IIT Ropar followed by  Prof Kailash Srivastava sir,senior R&D engineer at ABB Sweden and currently serving as adjunct professor at IIT Mandi, also Padma Shri Dr. Satish Kumar sir, Ex- director at NIT Kurukshetra were invited on the dice to motivate the audience with their insightful words in the view of the event’s subject under light, i.e. the bridging of Tech to Innovation. Following this, the guests who joined in online mode shared their wise words on the agenda in light. The online interaction began with  Prof Suresh Nair sir, IEEE India Council Chair Elect, and Chief Technology Advisor to the Foundation for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship, followed by vote of thanks by Prof Prerna Gaur, Professor and Head, Instrumentation and Control Department, NSUT.

Later, the workshop proceeded towards Panel Discussion. Unlike any other discussion, this one sat quite unique as the students got a chance to hear a panel of extremely knowledgeable and rather industry experts to discuss the topics like : ‘The practicality of Academic knowledge in the industry’, ‘Education 4.0’, ‘Industry 5.0’ and ‘Reduction of Carbon Footprint’. The sequence of the discussion started with Prof Prerna Gaur,Professor and Head, Instrumentation and Control Department, NSUT, followed by  Prof C.C. Reddy sir, currently working as a Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Ropar, then Dr Amit Laddi sir is Principal Scientist CSIR-CSIO and finally Dr. Rashmi Aggarwal ma’am, a senior IEEE member currently working as a Professor at JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA. The faculty, staff members and the students had the privilege of witnessing such meaningful inputs, ideas and facts put forth by leading professionals and educators.

The workshop reached its next milestone which was Theme Based Discussion and stories. In this segment, the industry experts listed out the latest patterns for building an excellent career trajectory. The topics were: ‘Trending skill requirement in the industry’, ‘Upcoming Domains to build career in’, ‘Importance of Industrial Training for BTech Students’ and ‘Industry specific learning in college’.

 

 The speakers both in offline and online mode were invited to present their points keeping up with the trends in the domain of science and technology. The students also presented their projects in front of the renowned guests.

The event came to end with the closing ceremony on November 11, 2022 around 1:00 PM. With this session, the students took the mirage of knowledge with them.
