Data Science Workshop
The IEEE NHCE Student Branch in collaboration with IEEE Young Professionals Affinity Group of Bangalore Section, conducted a Data Science Workshop during the QuantumX Tech-Fest held in New Horizon College of Engineering on the 10th of December, 2022.
The workshop smoothly began with the arrival of our guest and handing over the token of appreciation for his willingness to take time out form his hectic schedule to impart knowledge amongst the students.
Dr. Sumit Soman holds a Ph.D. in Machine Learning from IIT Delhi and is a Senior Member of the IEEE. He is an Executive Committee member of the IEEE Sensors Council and the Young Professionals Affinity Group of the IEEE Bengaluru Section. He is currently a Senior Data Scientist with Ericsson Global AI Accelerator. Prior to this, he worked with the Health Informatics Group at the Center for Development of Advanced Computing since 2011 in various capacities.
Being extremely well informed in the area, Dr. Sumit was able to quickly grab the students’ attention and taught them the basics of datasets, python and data science. He allowed students to experiment with different methods and approaches to arrive at their solutions.

Students were finally able to test out their theory knowledge and expand that into practical applications. Realising the importance of theoretical concelpts and understanding the applications with real-life applications, is exactly the mindset students need to learn with moving ahead in this fast paced technology world.
