5G network slicing - all you need to know?
IEEE North Jersey Section MTT/AP Chapter Co-Sponsors the event
This webinar explains what network slicing is all about, how the RAN can support it and discusses how to test for correct 5G mobile device behavior. The following topics will be discussed:
- how slices are identified and accessed by the mobile device
- how a mobile device sorts traffic into different slices
- how the RAN supports network slicing
- how to test the correct network slicing behavior of 5G mobile devices

5G network slicing - all you need to know?
5G New Radio enables a wealth of use cases for consumers, enterprises, and even devices. The requirements of each service vary enormously depending on the application type. In order to provide various types of services, mobile network operators have found different ways to adapt their networks. For example, deploying independent core networks such as one for smartphones and another for IoT devices. To address the need for optimizing network utilization, 3GPP introduced network slicing in Release 15, providing a logical slicing up of a network to best serve different use cases.
