Biography:
Margaretha A K Eriksson (M’95, SM’04)
Margaretha Eriksson received her M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering/Power Engineering from The Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, in 1988. She has studied Information Security at Stockholm University/KTH, Business Intelligence and Security Architecture.
In 1989 she founded Irbis Konsult AB, a consulting company involved with Engineering Management and Information and Cyber Security. She is lecturing on Risk analysis and Information Security at Halmstad University, Sweden.
Margaretha has consulted with international corporations as IBM, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, Ericsson, Saab, ABB, Bombardier, Tetra Pak, and Volvo.
During 2017-2022 she was Senior Information Security Specialist at CGI, as well as working as CISO for a Swedish government agency.
She became the first female Director of IEEE R8 in 2017, and was also the first female Chair of the Swedish National Organization for EE:s (www.ser.se) in 1999, as well as the first female President of EUREL (www.eurel.org).
Margaretha has worked internationally for more 40 years at JCI (www.jci.cc), a global NGO working with leadership and entrepreneurial development, as a skilled and inspiring trainer, and international leader. She has received life time membership and was awarded "Most outstanding JCI Senator in the World" 2006.
She lives in Sweden.
Margaretha has received several IEEE awards:
IEEE EAB Meritorious Achievement Award in Continuing Education 2012 ”For exceptional leadership in organizing and delivering practical leadership and management training to young entrepreneurs, IEEE students and Graduates of the Last Decade”
IEEE R8 Presidential Award 2007 ”For leadership and outstanding service in pioneering workshops on the development of Leadership Skills and Project Management 2001¬2005”
IEEE MGA Leadership Award 2002 “For stimulating and promoting the formation of technical chapters and promoting the value of the IEEE membership at regional conferences within IEEE Region 8.
Margaretha has been Keynote speaker at WIESYP-ECE in Dhaka, Bangladesh (2015), and Workshop leader at CeSYP in Zagreb, Croatia (2015), as well as at WSYP in Colombo, Sri Lanka (2015) and a few more occasions.
She was member of IEEE Board of Directors 2015-2018 and instrumental in establishing the R8 Africa Council.
