The webinar will explore recent Trends and Challenges in Transportation electrification and automotive industry and explore how industries are leveraging technologies and research in various capacities toward decarbonizing the transportation sector. The speaker will highlight the roles and expectation from tier-1 companies in the automotive industry, and the reflection of those expectations and roles on the approaches and decision on the traction systems and power electronics controls concepts and challenges for Tier-1 suppliers in the electric transportation domain. The sequence of discussion shall include significant topics such as traction motors, control, and diagnosis of electric motor drive systems. The speaker shall also address questionnaires and engage in healthy discussions with the potential audience regarding the transportation electrification in the automotive industry.

Biography:

Dr. Eldeeb (Senior Member, IEEE) received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Florida International University (FIU), Miami, Florida, USA. His 10+ years of academic and industrial experience are in the area of design, development and testing of control firmware of e-Machines and power electronics inverters for EV powertrains.

 Since early 2021, he’s been with BorgWarner Inc. as a Senior Motor Controls Innovations Engineer for the PowerDrive Systems Business Unit at BorgWarner Noblesville Technical Center (NTC), Noblesville, IN, USA.. He is contributing and supporting the development of control platforms for BorgWarner’s next generational e-Motors and inverters for EVs Transportation Electrifications.

He is the author/ co-author of over 55 peer-reviewed IEEE-published journal articles and conference papers and holds 1 patent issued by the US patents office. His work was cited over 450 times.

 Dr. Eldeeb was the keynote speaker at the IEEE IAS Annual Meeting 2022, Detroit, MI. He is the recipient of the “Outstanding Paper” award at the IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC) 2019, Anaheim, CA, USA, in March 2019, and the 2nd place award at the “Best Ph.D. Thesis Contest” by the IEEE IAS in 2021.  He is an active member at the IEEE IAS- Industrial Drives Standards sub-committee and a topic chair in the industrial drives and electric machines tracks at the IEEE ECCE conferences since 2020. He is currently the vice-Chair of the IEEE PES/IAS/PELS jt. Chapter of Central Indiana section.
