Central Iowa Section Meeting – ISU Student Innovation Center
The March Central Iowa Section meeting will be a tour of the ISU Student Innovation Center. The tour was arranged by the Engineers Club of Des Moines and the Club has invited the Section to join the tour.
This will be an in-person meeting.
The Student Innovation Center is a hands-on facility for Iowa State students of all programs and majors. It is a collaborative facility that provides a unique, state-of-the-art space for students to try their hand designing, fabricating, testing, and demonstrating ideas for everything from culinary to lunar to digital gaming to vehicles. The facility includes exhibit space, metal and wood shops, 3D printing space, print and supplies shops, and office space for student organizations. The Center opened in fall 2020. Our tour will be led by student volunteers.
The Center is located on the west end of the Campus next to the water tower. The building is between Coover Hall and Hoover Hall.
There are parking lots nearby but please read the signs carefully. Many of the parking spaces are available to non-permit holders after 5:30 PM. Do not park in any of the spaces that are marked as being reserved 24 hours a day.
After the tour we will drive to Cornbred Barbecue for dinner. Everyone will order from the menu.
Students are encouraged to attend and will have their meal cost subsidized by the Section.
