Dr. Karen Haigh will present her AESS Dl Talk on assuring mission success in cognitive EW systems.

Rhode&Schawrtz will demonstration their "Integrated, Record, Analysis, Playback System" and explain its importance in the cognitve EW ecosystem.

Lunch will be provided.

Registration through R&S website link below is required to attend this free event.

Dr. Karen Haigh's AESS Distinguished Lecturer presentation will discuss the challenges for assuring the performance of a system that can learn from novel experiences in the field. EW systems operate at a timescale that means they cannot afford to learn post-mission, or with human supervision. EW systems must learn from a single observation, using self-supervised reinforcement feedback. The validation infrastructure must therefore support automated closed-loop, multi-resolution testing, and ways to test the effectiveness of actions. We must validate the learning process, rather than validating the learned model.

This talk will be followed by a presentation/demonstration by Rhode&Schwartz of their "Integrated, Record, Analysis, Playback System" (IRAPS).Please see below for description of system.

Platform verification with signals that reflect the real-world is always difficult, but is always the best approach to the determine the true performance of the system. Performing test out in the real-world is not always possible for a number of reasons. To overcome these challenges, R&S®IRAPS™ enables the real-world RF spectrum to be captured, analyzed and played back in an efficient manner enabling quick and insightful analysis.

Biography:

Dr. Karen Haigh is an expert and consultant in Cognitive EW and embedded AI. Her focus is on physical systems with limited communications and limited computation resources that must perform under fast hard- real-time requirements. In September 2021, her book "Cognitive Electronic Warfare: An Artificial Intelligence Approach", was released by Artech House. She received her Ph.D. in from Carnegie Mellon University in Computer Science with a focus on AI and Robotics. Dr. Haigh is a Fellow of the IEEE for contributions to closed-loop control of embedded systems, and a Fellow of AAIA for outstanding achievements in the area of smart homes.
