Sustainable Engineering: Managing Food Security Challenges in Malaysia (IEEE Day Celebration 2022)
On 12th October 2022, the FOE Industry Forum 2022 was held in conjunction with the IEEE Day Celebration of 2022. Titled "Managing Food Security Challenges in Malaysia through Sustainable Engineering" was conducted at the Multipurpose Hall (MPH), Cyberjaya campus. The forum saw participation from more than 90 attendees and garnered 500 online views. The forum aimed to highlight the challenges faced by different industries in developing technology to tackle food security concerns. The event was recognized by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activity and featured panellists from Sustainable Harvest Sdn Bhd and Universiti Putra Malaysia. The discussions centered around topics such as the significance of a continuous local food supply, the potential of smart agriculture technology, and the need for engineers to comprehend the difficulties faced by farmers. Collaborative efforts among various stakeholders will facilitate the adoption of smart farming and contribute towards sustaining a high-quality food supply in Malaysia.
