Beaver Valley-2 is a testament to safe, reliable, clean, and efficient power generation.   Join IEEE Power and Energy Society for a uniquely in-depth presentation, lunch, Q&A, and tour of a fully operational and innovative nuclear power plant.  A panel of experts including Joseph M. DiCioccio, Andrew Crotty, and Jim Graff to present and to provide an escorted walkthrough of facilities. Tour focuses to include the plant’s electrical systems, control systems, generation turbines, high voltage electrical equipment, and radiation-shielded power electronics. Presentation topics to broadly cover pressurized water reactor operation and provide in-depth discussions of the differences and advantages compared to other reactors in operation in other parts of the world right now. This will include performance and safety comparisons to positive void coefficient reactors.  Presentation topics to highlight the first-of-its-kind robotic reactor inspection vessel that were a success for the station in the past year and earned their team a 2022 Nuclear Energy Institute Top Innovative Practice (TIP) award, while saving over $1 million dollars in outage costs. Lunch will be provided.  Event to include about 4 miles of walking and extensive stair traversal.
