IoT for Smart City

IoT is one of the advanced technologies, which has enormous applications with very high social impact. The smart city is one such application, where IoT will have a high impact on automated systems for the citizens. It helps in the tremendous enhancement of digital technology, which is one of the govt policies to implement everywhere to fasten the process for the betterment of qualitative human life.

Biography:

Santos Kumar Das is a result driven and business- savvy R&D professional with more than 20 (1 years after BTECH, 7 years after MTECH, 5 years during PhD and 8 years after PhD) years of valuable experience on various Software developments and research activities both in industries and academics. At present he is working at National Institute of Technology as an Associate professor. He worked at SDSU, California, US as an adjunct faculty for one month on Software Defined Network. He is academically astute and technically brilliant with a Master Degree specializing in Electrical Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, India and PhD Degree from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India. His PhD research work was on “Quality of service estimation for an Optical Virtual Private Network over WDM/DWDM network”. His current research work is on software defined network (SDN), IoT, sensor networking, optical networking, Smart City product development, embedded system, LiFi, FSO, machine learning, Crime detection, accident detection, intrusion detection, pollution management and smart home. He has guided almost 45 BTECH and 45 MTECH projects in various domains. He also has guided 5 PhD, published 35 journals, 45 conference papers, 15 patents (submitted) during my industry and academic work, 2 patents granted, 1 book and 15 book chapters. At present, he is guiding 12 PhD students in optical networking and embedded IoT domains.
