Seminar On Gate Exam Opportunities And Preparation Strategy

IEEE MVSR PES Student Chapter has conducted a seminar on Opportunities through GATE Exam and its preparation strategy in association with Electrical Engineers Association (EEED) and OHM Institute. The main motto of the program was to explain clearly about GATE exam advantages and how it tests the technical & analytical skills of Engineering students.

The session was commenced by Ms. G. Shreya, Chairperson, Electrical Engineers Students Association (EESA) by welcoming the speaker, faculty coordinators, student coordinators, and the participants.

Then she invited Mr. B. Rama Krishna, EESA Faculty coordinator, to address the gathering. He started the session by thanking the speaker for agreeing to give the session and providing their valuable time. Then she invited Dr. D Hari Krishna, IEEE MVSR Student Branch Counsellor, to address the gathering. He also thanked the speaker and he later on continued to explain the importance of the seminar and also mentioned that this webinar will improve the students’ knowledge regarding GATE Exam.

Later, she welcomed and introduced the speaker of the session, Mr. B. Surendra Reddy, OHM Institute and then handed over the session to him. He firstly thanked the management for providing the opportunity to interact with the students and appreciated all the participants who were attending the session and talked about his designation and role at OHM Institute. Then, he continued the session by presenting the various career opportunities available for the students after completing their under graduation.

He explained that a Masters program is one of the opportunities to explore a subject in depth and increase one’s knowledge in the respective subject. He also shared that IITs and NITs offer Masters in various engineering disciplines every year and that admission for those courses will take place through the GATE exam. He explained about each university in detail and the courses and facilities they provide.

He also suggested that undergraduates can directly get into various Public Sector Undertaking companies in India through GATE exam. He said that getting employed in PSUs is still a dream for many graduates. He also said companies like BARC use GATE score to shortlist candidates and call for interviews.

He later on continued to explain about the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) exam in detail. He said that the GATE exam is conducted every year by top IITs taking turns. Every year lakhs of aspirants attempt the exam, there is no limit for number of attempts by aspirants. He then shared the number of papers in the exam and said a few more were added for GATE 2024 based on demand. He explained the pattern of the GATE question paper and syllabus, how the questions will be asked, and how to answer them. Later, he shared some statistics related to the cut-off score and the scores of top rankers over the years. He also explained the Engineering Service Exam (ESE) and its importance.

He gave a brief introduction about OHM Institute and about various courses they provide for the aspirants. He shared their success statistics and proudly presented their top rankers to the audience. He said this is high time and suggested everyone to start their preparation to crack the competitive exams. He gave his best wishes to the students and concluded the seminar. Later, the session was kept open for doubts. Mr. B. Surendra Reddy then cleared all the doubts of the audience.

Ms. G. Shreya, EESA Chairperson invited Mr. C V G Krishna Rao, Head of EEE Dept, to present a memento as token of gratitude to the speaker. Mr. C V G Krishna Rao thanked Mr. B. Surendra Reddy for taking the time to guide the students of MVSR Engineering College. He expressed he was very happy with the session and presented the memento to the speaker.
