  Speakers

Yi Zhou Yi Zhou of Powerlink Queensland

Topic:

Practical Experiences of Sub-synchronous Resonances with Inverter Based Renewable Plant

Biography:

Dr. Yi Zhou is currently Principal Engineer of Powerlink Queensland, working in the field of power system analysis of IBR plants. Before He joined Powerlink, he had worked as technical leader of electrical modelling and grid connection studies in R&D of Vestas and General Electric.

Yi Zhou received his BSc. degree From Zhejiang University in China, MSc. and PhD. degree from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.

Nilesh Modi Nilesh Modi of Australian Energy Market Operator

Topic:

Converter-driven Interactions in IBR Dominated Grid

Biography:

Dr Nilesh Modi is Manager of Operational Analysis & Engineering team at AEMO. He has been working with AEMO since 2012. Nilesh has been involved in various key projects/documents published by AEMO, namely the review of the South Australian (SA) system black event, system strength assessments for South Australia, the review of under-frequency load shedding design for SA, the system integrity protection scheme for SA, system strength requirements, inertia requirement methodology and large scale EMT modelling of the grid. Currently his key focus area is power system operation with high penetration of inverter-based resources and grid-forming inverters.

Nilesh received his PhD from the University of Queensland, where he was awarded the Dean’s Excellence Award for RHD Excellence. He is a recipient of Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG) Excellence Award. He is also an adjunct senior research fellow at the University of Queensland, Australia. He is an active member of CIGRE, Senior member of the IEEE and Fellow of Engineers Australia.

Rizah Memisevic Rizah Memisevic of EPEC Group

Topic:

Active Power Oscillation during DC Voltage Limitation

Biography:

Rizah Memisevic is currently with EPEC Group he has worked at Powerlink, in the Power Research Institute and at universities, as Lecturer and Assistant Professor, at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina and as a Research Officer at the University of Queensland. He was always involved in research across multiple technical areas of renewable energy (solar and wind), power quality, energy applications (power generation), and energy and economic interaction. Dr Memisevic is a member of the Australasian Association for Engineering Education, IEEE (Senior Member) and the Institution of Engineers Australia.

Yu Su Yu Su of Energy Queensland

Topic:

Reactive Power Oscillation in Weak Grid (distribution network) with IBR

Biography:

Yu Su, a Senior Stability Assessment Engineer at Energy Queensland, received a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Queensland and a Bachelor's degree from North of China Electrical Power University. He has worked in Power system planning and protection, operation and renewable generator connection compliance assessment and generator commissioning testing areas, and different utilities, Transend, Powerlink, AEMO and Energy Queensland. He is interested in contributing to volunteer work and being a guest lecturer at Griffith University.
