IEEE Talk: A New Paradigm: Information Harvesting for Far-Field RF Power Transfer
Abstract:
Wireless power transfer introduces a revolution to consumer electronics by providing ambient energy resources enabling battery-less infrastructures, which is aligned with reaching zero-power communication targets in near-future. Information Harvesting is a novel concept which introduces a novel protocol design into the existing proposals far-field wireless power transfer solutions. Specifically, it aims to transmit information on top of the existing far-field wireless power transfer mechanism without introducing interfering/interrupting effects on existing power transfer mechanism. From this aspect, this new concept may turn out to a pivotal methodology for IoT system where IoT devices require the software/firmware updates along with periodical battery recharging operations. In this seminar, the current activities, existing achievements, and potential evolvements which make the original concept more attractive for near-future systems will be discussed. This research has been supported by Academy of Finland.
