                    PROFESSOR HALDEN A. MORRIS, PhD., P.E.

Halden Morris is a Professor of Career, Technical and Vocational Education who retired from the School of Education, Faculty of Humanities and Education, The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona. He studied at the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, USA, the University of Western Ontario, Canada and the University of Technology, Jamaica. Professor Morris is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Jamaica and is a senior life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a member of the International Vocational Education and Training Association (IVETA) as well as the Jamaica Association of Technical and Vocational Educators & Trainers (JATVET). He is the holder of a United States small entity patent and is the founder of the Masters’ and PhD degrees in TVET and Workforce Development at the UWI. He is co-author of the book “Fundamentals of Fault Current and Grounding in Electrical Systems” and author/editor of the book “Issues in Career, Technical and Vocational Education and Training: Lessons for the Caribbean.” He is also the author of numerous journal articles which focuses on TVET, ICT and quality assurance. Professor Morris is the recipient of the Honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from the University of Technology, Jamaica (2021), The Brown Senior Scholar Award from Valdosta State University, USA (2015), the Prime Minister’s Medal of Appreciation for Service to Education (2009), and the IEEE-USA Regional Professional Leadership Awards (2007). Prof. Morris is currently the Chairman for the Board of Management for the Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI) and a Director for the HEART NSTA Trust in Jamaica. Additionally, he has served on the board of several other organizations in Jamaica. Professor Morris is married to Carlene, a union, which produced two daughters.
