IEEE WIE AG Miami Section is orgnizing an event titled "Imagine the Future: Make Safety Seen via Active Involvement in Mitigating Climate Change" on July 13th at 11:00 am (EST) to celebrate IEEE WIE Day 2023. This year's theme, "Engaging Women in Mitigating Climate Change & Building Climate Resilience," highlights the crucial role of women in creating a sustainable future.
Experience inspiring talks and engaging discussions as we explore how women's active involvement can mitigate the effects of climate change, ensuring a safer world for future generations. This event aims to inspire and empower women (graduate students and young professionals) to take actions, showcase their ideas, and actively engage as contributors of mitigating Climate Change to create sustainable safe future.
Oue guest speaker Dr. Radu will share her invaluable insights and experiences on the crucial topic of mitigating climate change and building a sustainable future. Her expertise will inspire and empower attendees to actively engage in addressing this global challenge.

Daniela Radu
Imagine the Future: Make Safety Seen via Active Involvement in Mitigating Climate Change
Biography:
Dr. Daniela Radu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Florida International University (FIU). Her background covers a broad range of disciplines, and she is combining materials science with chemistry and nanotechnology to synthesize novel materials with properties that enable their application in renewable energy. Radu holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Iowa State University and has further completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at Scripps California. Prior her academic appointments she has been a senior scientist at DuPont where she developed a novel technology for thin-film PV using earth abundant materials. Dr. Radu authored over thirty journal articles, and more than 30 conference presentations, and has five granted patents. Her research is funded by NASA, DoD, NSF, and USDA.
