Please join us on Friday, November 20th, 2015, at UCCS between 10:00AM -11:00AM for a presentation on the above topic by Mr. Mike Richardson from Quantum Imaging, Inc. Colorado Springs.

Abstract: Mr. Richardson will begin with a general overview of solid-state cameras including basic types, general operating principles and designs, and specific challenges faced in the design of these systems. Solid-state cameras have become an integral part of wireless phones, medical devices, weapon and defense systems, and aerospace technology. System design, camera types and applications will be examined in this overview of solid-state cameras.

High-speed ballistic imagery and application of designs outside the visible spectrum, along with details of the electrical, mechanical, firmware, and software essentials necessary for use cases such as color night vision will be discussed.  In addition, the role of various engineering disciplines fundamental to the successful design and deployment of solid-state cameras is reviewed.

Bio: Mr. Mike Richardson received his BSEE degree from Cadarville University, Cedarville, OH and he is presently the VP of Engineering at Quantum Imaging, Inc., Colorado Springs. He is involved in the design, development, production, and support of cameras and vision-based systems for 14 years as an individual contributor, team lead, and manager. He is experienced in commercial and military projects across many wavelengths and in both normal imaging and low-light imaging applications.  He has developed or led teams in developing conventional CCD cameras, both VGA and high-definition EMCCD cameras, CMOS cameras including SCMOS technology, and SWIR cameras. He has also developed multi-sensor cameras for color and high speed video applications in excess of 100 million frames per second.

Light refreshments will be served.
