Sodium ion batteries are the next big wave in battery technologies. It is expected to serve emerging applications such as stationary storage and light e-mobility vehicles. In efforts to seize this opportunity, UNIGRID is developing advanced sodium ion batteries that lower costs by 50% and overcome supply chain challenges of lithium ion based energy storage technologies. UNIGRID’s anode innovation increases the energy densities of sodium ion batteries by a factor of 2x and eliminates battery safety hazards, offering competitive advantages in energy storage and e-mobility markets. This session will describe the working mechanism behind this enabling technology and discuss recent trends in the sodium ion battery industry.
