Meeting Minutes of Lehigh Valley WIE meeting 8.28.23

Attendees: Bonnie Rohde, Betty Nelson, Maria Cohen, Christine Gerveshi, Jennifer Winikus

1. Jennifer Winikus joined the meeting. She is a new professor of Computer Engineering at Lehigh. She moved here from Buffalo, where she was Chair of the WIE group! Welcome, Jennifer!
2. Recorded talks: Customer Support provided the method for uploading recordings of our talks, which was to create a space on Collabratec. Our talks so far are uploaded; you can reach them via the "links" button on our website https://webinabox.vtools.ieee.org/wibp_home/index/WE20027. Only IEEE members can download the talks.
3. Student Networking session based on Speed Interviews "So You Think You Can Network":

• Schedule for October 18^th at 6:30pm.
• Virtual using breakout rooms.
• We need to discuss how this event will work, in terms of:

  • How many students and judges?
  • How long for each pitch?
  • One-on-one, or several students rotating through the judges together?

• Sent out a “save the date” to recruit interviewers across various disciplines, male and female, with an emphasis on people who review resumes or make decisions on hiring students and recent grads. Only 3 judges so far.

4. Bob Peruzzi’s talk on Scheduling was held on Tuesday September 12^th at 6:30 at Lehigh. Lifang arranged the room. It was a hybrid event; 7 in-person and 31 virtual attendees.

5. Region 2 WIE:
