Project SWARAM - Preliminary Field Visit

Introduction
On the 11th of August 2023, IEEE College of Engineering Adoor SB SIGHT conducted a visit to Manakkayam Village as a crucial step of Project SWARAM. The primary aim of this visit was to formally inform the representatives of Manakkayam Village about the initiation of the project.
Brief Description
The core team members of Project SWARAM, including Dr. Jayachandran E.S (Branch Counsellor, IEEE SB CEA), Dr. John George (VSAC Travancore Hub, IEEE Kerala Section and Advisor, IEEE PES SBC CEA and IEEE IAS/IES Jt SBC CEA), Mr. Sujith Kumar A (Immediate Past Chair, IEEE SB CEA) Ms. Irene Alsa George (Chair, IEEE SB CEA), Ms. Diya Ann Mathew (Chair, IEEE CEA SB SIGHT), Mr.Flemin K Sony (Chair, IEEE RAS SBC CEA), and Mr. Jesvin Mathew Vincent (Vice-Chair of IEEE CEA SB SIGHT), were present during the visit.
● Meeting with Ward Member and NABARD Representative During the visit, the project team had the opportunity to meet with Mrs. Mini Dominic (Ward Member) and Mr. Athul Raj (NABARD Project Coordinator). We enthusiastically shared the news of the project SWARAM's approval and reiterated their continuous support throughout the project's implementation. The project team also sought additional details about the Manakayam Village.
● Meeting with VSS Secretary Subsequently, the project team engaged with Mr. Manoj (VSS Secretary, local chieftain) and conducted an on-site assessment of the project area. Mr. Manoj assured unwavering support from both him and the villagers. Their enthusiasm for the project was evident in their words and expressions.
● Visit to the Project Implementation Area the project team navigated challenging terrains to reach the water source housing the motor, estimating the pipeline's layout. We also inspected the location earmarked for solar panel and tank installation along with the villagers.
● Conclusion : The visit to Manakkayam yielded success, providing valuable insights into the topography and fostering stronger bonds with the villagers and representatives. This visit enriched the project team with crucial parameters, enhancing the groundwork for the project's successful execution.
