Dr. Kurt Richter of University of Technology Graz, Austria

The workshop is an introduction into the principles of Leadership skills and comprises topics as leading of groups and teams. A considerable part of the workshop deals with meeting management, conflict styles, conflict management and dealing with difficult people and their integration into a group.

The structure of the workshop is interactive where tests and group work combined with discussion and presentation of results have high priority to frontal lecturing. The workshop is modular structured in comprising 8 topics:

3. Leader versus Manager – A Comparison
4. Body Language
5. Engineering Ethics
6. Personal Interactive Skills
7. Meeting Management
8. Conflict Management

Biography:

Kurt R. Richter, IEEE Life Fellow, graduated in Communication Engineering in 1958 and received his PhD 1961 from the Technical University Vienna (TUW), Austria.
He was Professor at TUW before he became Full Professor for Fundamentals and Theory of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University Graz (TUG), Austria, in 1975. From 1984-1993 he was Dean of the Department of the Electrical Engineering. Since 2000 he is Professor Emeritus at TUG. From 1971 to 1973 he spent 2 years at NASA in USA.
He was founding chairman of the IEEE Austria Section from 1979 – 1983 and 1991/1992 IEEE Director Region 8.
Since 2000 he is trainer within the IEEE Region 8 Workshop Program for “Development of Leadership Skills”.
Since 2009 he is also trainer for the workshops “Body Language in Business” and “Presentation Skills” consisting of “Oral Presentation Skills” and “Introduction to Writing Technical Publications”.
From 2008 to 2012 he lectured “Development of Leadership Skills” at the University Passau, Germany.
Kurt Richter is a Corresponding Member of the Austria Academy of Sciences and
Honorary Member of the Croatian Academy of Engineering (HATZ)
Besides of many recognitions and certificates of appreciation from IEEE entities as Sections, student branches, young professionals as well as from universities he received
1971 the Kardinal Innitzer Award for Research and
2008 the IEEE EAB Meritorious Award for Continuing Education.
