Meeting Minutes of Lehigh Valley WIE meeting 10.2.23

Attendees: Bonnie Rohde, Maria Cohen, Christine Gerveshi, Jennifer Winikus

  1. Student Networking session based on Speed Interviews "So You Think You Can Network":

  • Scheduled for October 18th at 6:30pm.

  • Virtual using breakout rooms, with coaches rotating while students stay put.

  • How this event will work :

    • Equal number of coaches and students, up to a max of 12 each

    • Each student will prepare a 3-minute pitch

    • Each student presents to each coach in turn

  • Only 5 coaches and 1 student signed up so far.

  • Ask LiFang to arrange the zoom link.

  1. IEEE Happy Hour: The Section wants the next Happy Hour to be North of Allentown. Maria will come up with a suggestion for a venue in the Stroudsburg area.

  2. Elections: We will hold elections at the November meeting.

  3. WIE Forum 10/26/23: Bonnie and Christine will attend the WIE Forum in Pittsburgh. The Section will reimburse out-of-pocket expenses, then we will ask for a PACE grant to reimburse.

  4. Ideas for events for 2024:

  • Speaker on AI

  • Careers forum

  • Founders of businesses

Chris will ask Richard for a list of female IEEE members as a start.
