Topic Title: Digital Twins in 6G: from theory to practice
Distinguished Lecturer: Fabrizio Granelli, Ph.D., Full Professor
Rector's Delegate for Information Technology and Services
Research Associate Professor, University of New Mexico (UNM, USA)
Chair, Aerial Communications ETI & IEEE P1954 WG
Abstract: Digital Twins are becoming increasingly relevant in several areas of the modern Digital Society. However, while Digital Twins have already reached maturity and practical applications in the fields of manufacturing and environmental monitoring, still they only represent an idea when applied to networks, especially in the upcoming 6G. This seminar will discuss the concept of Digital Twin and how it can be applied in the field of communication networks. Finally, some research activities and visionary projects will be analyzed where Digital Twins in 6G will be implemented, and their potential demonstrated.
Bio: Fabrizio Granelli is Full Professor at the Dept. of Information Engineering and Computer Science (DISI) of the University of Trento (Italy). He received the «Laurea» (M.Sc.) and Ph.D. degree from the University of Genoa, Italy, in 1997 and 2001, respectively. He was visiting professor at the State University of Campinas (Brasil) and in 2016 he was visiting professor at the University of Tokyo (Japan).
