Annual Awards Dinner, held at Prestonwood Country Club.


The Eastern North Carolina Section of IEEE is pleased to announce this year's annual Awards Banquet. We will meet at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary for a nice dinner, for fellowship, and to recognize outstanding achievements in our section.

There will be a non-refundable $10 fee for each Dinner attendee.  Guests are welcome.

Exploring the Future of Mobility: NCDOT’s Connected Autonomous Shuttle Supporting Innovation (CASSI) Program

Biography:

Senior Advisor for Innovation, Integrated Mobility Division (IMD)

 

Sarah Searcy is an applied research professional and program manager with over eleven years of experience serving North Carolina to advance safe, equitable, and innovative multimodal transportation throughout the state. As the Senior Advisor for Innovation in the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT)’s Integrated Mobility Division, she directs projects and programs that improve shared mobility options and promote transportation systems that work for everyone. Sarah manages the Connected Autonomous Shuttle Supporting Innovation (CASSI) program for NCDOT to pilot shared autonomous vehicles in partnership with communities across the state.

Prior to joining NCDOT in 2021, Sarah was with the Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) at NC State University for over eight years, most recently as the Bicycle and Pedestrian Program Manager. Sarah is a Fulbright award recipient and two-time East Carolina University alumna with a bachelor's degree in Art and Anthropology and a master's degree in Sociology.

• Led or served as key researcher on 35+ multimodal transportation research and technical services projects for NCDOT, NC GHSP, USDOT, NHTSA, NCHRP, USACE, and other sponsors.
• Oversaw the Bicycle and Pedestrian Program at ITRE at NC State University.
• Managed the North Carolina Non-Motorized Volume Data Program (NC NMVDP) for NCDOT.
• Directed multiple large-scale data collection projects, including statewide monitoring of pedestrians along railroad right-of-way for the NCDOT Rail Division and annual statewide observational seat belt use surveys for NC GHSP.
