Training session on CHIL using dSPACE and OPAL-RT
A Controller Hardware-in-Loop (CHIL) training was conducted at IIT Kanpur on August 8th, 2023, organized by IEEE PES SBC IIT Kanpur. The main focus of this training is hands-on experience with CHIL using dSPACE and OPAL-RT. Prof. Gururaj M.V. from the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, led the organization of the event. Following were the few outcomes from this training:
1- CHIL validation is crucial for testing and verifying the performance of control systems.
2- This process involves integrating OPAL-RT with the physical controller to emulate system behavior under diverse conditions.
3- OPAL-RT provides a realistic simulation environment, enabling cost-effective and time-efficient testing of controllers against real-world scenarios.
4- The training emphasized the application of CHIL in power systems.
5- From the audience's perspective, the training was highly interactive, informative, and inspirational for researchers.
