"IdeaLab," is an ideathon aimed at promoting innovation and addressing real-world challenges related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

ideaLab - Ideathon is an event held to bring together students to generate and present innovative ideas on a specific topic or challenge. Similar to a Hackathon, which focuses on developing software or technology solutions, an ideathon primarily revolves brainstorming, idea generation, and concept development. This proposal is regarding an organization of an Ideathon event by Department of Information Technology, FOC. The competition is open to all undergraduate students at FOC, FBESS and FOT. It is also intended to open this competition to selected Advanced Level students who are residing around KDU Southern Campus.

The technology domain of specialization in this event is Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event titled “IdeaLab” will be fully-fledged ideathon to come up with a solution to a given real-life problem within a defined time duration of less than 24 hours. It is scheduled for two days,

        - 14th September 2023  : Preparatory event for the ideathon

        - 20th and 21st of September 2023 : ideathon Day

The entire event will be held on KDU Southern Campus. The maximum number of student participation for the hackathon is expected be approximately 60 students. Students will work in teams of 2‑4 members to come up with an idea for the given problem. The solutions will be evaluated by pitch presentations, and the best three will be awarded with stunning prizes. The keynote speech will include an awareness & mentoring programme for students where an UN representative will conduct a session on “How SDGs will solve the day-today life problems”.

There will also be a networking session along with this programme for students to interact with the experts to build connections. The IdeaLab will feature technological guidance from the United Nations (UN), a prominent institute with a global impact. Renowned for their expertise in addressing global challenges and promoting sustainable development, the UN will present a practical challenge rooted in real-world Sustainable Development Goals. Accomplished experts from the UN will craft this challenge, and the subsequent evaluation and recognition of the top three solutions will be overseen by the esteemed professionals.
