Biography:
Dr. Patrick LiKamWa is Professor of Optics and Photonics at CREOL, the College of Optics and Photonics with a joint appointment with Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Central Florida. He received his PhD degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Sheffield in 1987. He is currently pursuing research on the design, fabrication and testing of novel optoelectronic devices using III-V multi-quantum well semiconductors, and the integration of high-speed optical and optoelectronic devices to form monolithic and hybrid integrated optical circuits for high speed optical networks, optical sensing applications and high power semiconductor laser systems. He is co-Founder of Optium, the first venture-funded startup based on technologies developed at UCF. Optium went public in 2006 and merged with Finisar in 2008. He has published over 90 refereed journal papers and 130 proceedings for national and international conferences.
