IEEE PES UOJ SBC organized an introduction session to batch E21 for giving an introduction to PES. 


The IEEE PES SB Chapter at University of Jaffna organized an event titled "Introduction to IEEE PES SB Chapter" on October 5, 2023, at the Mechanical Building. The purpose of this event was to welcome our new junior members to the chapter, provide an overview of our activities, and foster a sense of community within the department.

Mr. Akitha Anupriya Nwarathna

Biography:

Mr. Akitha Anupriya Nawarathna is an exceptional individual who is currently in the final year of his undergraduate studies, specializing in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna. His journey in academia and extracurricular activities is marked by his remarkable accomplishments and his unwavering passion for power and energy applications.

One of Mr. Nawarathna's standout attributes is his prowess as an accomplished orator. His ability to articulate his thoughts and ideas effectively has made him a prominent figure within the academic and extracurricular circles of his university. His eloquence and communication skills have been instrumental in shaping his leadership roles and contributions to various organizations.

One of his primary areas of interest is in Power and Energy Systems (PES). He is deeply passionate about exploring the intricacies of power generation, distribution, and energy applications. This fervor has driven him to pursue research in the field, specifically in the domain of FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) Based Power Quality Analysis. His research is a testament to his commitment to advancing the understanding of power quality, which is crucial in ensuring efficient and reliable electrical systems.

Mr. Nawarathna's leadership abilities have not gone unnoticed. He has taken on significant roles in various organizations. He previously served as the Vice Chair of a notable chapter, and he now holds the position of Treasurer. This highlights his dedication to fostering a sense of community, collaboration, and learning within his academic institution.

In addition to his commitments within the university, Mr. Nawarathna has also been actively involved in the Rotaract Club of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jaffna. His role as the former Treasurer of this club demonstrates his dedication to community service and his willingness to contribute positively to society.

Moreover, Mr. Nawarathna is the current Treasurer of the "IET on Campus UOJ." The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is a globally recognized professional body for electrical, electronic, and related disciplines. His role as a treasurer for the IET on Campus signifies his active involvement in promoting engineering and technology-related activities and initiatives among his peers.





As we move forward, we plan to engage our junior members in various chapter activities, including technical workshops, industry talks, and community outreach programs. We encourage our new members to actively participate and take advantage of the opportunities our chapter offers.
