"IEEE Computer Society at Leading University Makes History with First-Ever Committee Election"
The IEEE Computer Society at Leading University, Sylhet, made history on May 10th, 2023, by conducting its first-ever executive committee election. This remarkable event showcased the chapter's dedication to promoting computer science and engineering among students.
In this election, eleven candidates competed for five executive committee positions. The esteemed Head of the Department of CSE, Rumel M. S. Rahman Pir, cast the inaugural vote, and the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Qazi Azizul Mowla supervised the proceedings.
The election process was diligently overseen by a team of election commissioners, including Rumel M. S. Rahman Pir, Md Saidur Rahman Kohinoor, Md Jehadul Islam Mony, Md Mazharul Islam Emon, Sanzida Parvin Shorna, Md Hridoy Chowdhury, and Ahsanur Rahman, along with senior society members and dedicated volunteers. Their commitment, along with the support of the HoD and Advisors, was vital to the success of the election.
The newly elected executive committee members expressed their gratitude for the trust placed in them by the Computer Society members. The executive committee comprises the following individuals: Md. Mahdi Hossain Hira as Chair, Irin Shorme as Vice Chair (Activity), Mehzabeen Azad Chowdhury as Vice Chair (Technical), Biggo Bushon Routh as General Secretary, and Md Tamim as Treasurer.
With the new executive committee in place, the IEEE Computer Society LU SB Chapter is poised to reach new heights and make substantial contributions to the field. The newly elected committee members are committed to furthering the chapter's growth and development, building upon the foundation laid by their predecessors.
