Venture Forth
Prof. Jack Pope will provide an overview of some of the clever ways that Forth-like compilers and interpreters are implemented. He will delve into at least one such implementation. Forth can be used to write general programs, including compilers for various languages.
Biography:
Professionally, Jack spends a great deal of time programming for system and statistical applications, database development, and distributed computing on UNIX/Linux systems. He also keeps busy as Chairman of the Twin Cities Section of the IEEE Computer Society and with teaching Computer Science in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. Jack is the principal developer of epop, a Forth inspired programming environment.
