Women In Engineering Annual Congress of Tunisia :WIE ACT 2.0
The IEEE Women In Engineering Annual Congress of Tunisia, organized by IEEE WIE ENIS SAG, IEEE WIE ENETCOM SAG, IEEE WIE Tunisia Section, IEEE ENIS SB, IEEE ENETCOM SB and IEEE YP Tunisia Section AG took place on September 30th and October 1st at the Amir Palace Hotel in Monastir. The event successfully brought together a diverse community of students and professionals, providing a platform to exchange knowledge, build networks, and explore groundbreaking ideas in both women's empowerment and the field of Artificial Intelligence.
The congress commenced with an inspiring opening ceremony that set the tone for the entire event. The organizers expressed their pride and delight in hosting such a distinguished gathering. Notable figures from the IEEE Tunisia section, including Mr. Achref Selmi, Vice-Chairman of IEEE Tunisia Section Chapter, and Tassnim Chiboub, Coordinator of IEEE Tunisia Section WIE Student Activities, also graced the stage. They conveyed their appreciation to all participants for their active engagement and presence. The event was further honored by the presence of Baya Bouchaala, representing the Student Affinity Groups in the IEEE WIE global Committee and recipient of the Region 8 Student Volunteer Award.
Throughout WIE ACT 2.0, a rich array of activities and workshops were offered to engage participants. These workshops were led by renowned trainers in technical fields, covering topics such as text classification enhancement using Ensemble techniques, led by Ms. Imen Masmoudi, an AI Engineering Teacher Assistant, and Embedded Systems with Mr. Kayoum Dejdidi, a Community Manager & Graphic Designer at IEEE Tunisia Section and an Embedded Systems Instructor at Gomycode. Another workshop focused on the benefits of becoming a young professional member, hosted by Ms. Madiha Neifar, Chairwoman of IEEE PES Tunisia Chapter Section and IEEE Tunisia Young Professionals AG Member. Additionally, a workshop on Revolutionizing Learning Through AI Chatbot Integration was conducted by Ms. Mouna Abdelakfi, a Research and Ph.D. student in computer systems engineering. A scrum workshop facilitated by Ms. Asma Sliti and a PrestaShop Mastery Workshop led by Mr. Kadhem were also part of the program.
In addition to these technical workshops, a 12-hour hackathon centered around Empowering Women In Engineering through Artificial Intelligence challenged participants to collaborate and develop creative solutions using AI technology.
The event also featured a non-technical challenge, where WIE SAGs presented their activities from the past year and proposed plans for future WIE ACT events.
Throughout the congress, attendees had the opportunity to expand their professional networks and deepen connections through team-building activities. The BLACK and White themed evening added a touch of lively celebration, providing everyone with a chance to unwind and enjoy the joyful atmosphere. It was a delightful respite, allowing participants to recharge and create lasting memories.
